Schedule: First shift, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM ET, Monday–Friday
What a Day Looks Like
You start your morning by powering up and calibrating inspection and analytical equipment so every measurement taken throughout the day is trustworthy. A quick scan of the day’s work orders and SOPs sets your priorities: first-piece inspections to green-light production, in‑process checks to keep lines running smoothly, and final verifications before product release.
Early on, you perform a critical first‑piece inspection. You read a complex customer print, identify hidden or implied dimensions, and apply fractions, decimals, and trigonometry to verify the setup. With calipers, micrometers, snap gauges, magnifiers, electronic instruments, and special fixtures verified against standards, you confirm conformance and authorize production to begin.
Midday, you move between raw material assessments, in‑process audits, and finished‑goods evaluations. You execute routine and non‑routine tests per established procedures and good manufacturing practices, documenting methods and results. When something looks off, you investigate—summarizing abnormalities, recommending corrective actions, and, when needed, revising or suggesting updates to test methods and SOPs within defined guidelines.
Throughout the shift, you support Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering with inspections of products, materials, components, and parts at multiple stages of production. You also contribute to stability program testing and formulation studies, maintaining detailed records for compliance. Some checks demand close‑tolerance measurement and a sensitive touch or judgment to discern minute variations.
How You’ll Contribute
- Develop, implement, and uphold inspection and testing standards, methods, and procedures to ensure precision, accuracy, and reliability.
- Ensure finished products meet company and governmental standards and comply with good manufacturing practices.
- Calibrate and maintain laboratory and analytical instruments; verify calibration against accepted standards.
- Document test procedures and results; prepare investigations, summaries, and reports of nonconformances.
- Recommend corrective actions and help refine testing methods and SOPs within established guidelines.
- Develop and assess alternative approaches to drive uniform quality, including identifying process variables.
- Sort materials and/or mark defects for repair as needed.
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of relevant inspection/quality experience and/or vocational training; comfortable applying full skills in a specialized area.
- Ability to read and interpret complicated blueprints and specifications (customer and vendor) and determine unstated dimensions.
- Strong math aptitude (fractions, decimals, trigonometry) and proven metrology skills.
- Proficiency with magnifiers, electronic instruments, calipers, micrometers, snap gauges, and special fixtures.
Working Style
- Comfort operating within semi‑standardized, routine tasks while recognizing when deviation is necessary.
- Ability to adapt procedures, techniques, and equipment to meet job requirements.
- Hands‑on judgment for close‑tolerance inspections requiring a sensitive touch.
