Precision Machining Operations Manager

Company: Express Employment Professionals

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Compensation: $72,000 – $78,000 annually

A Day in This Role

Your day starts on the production floor, confirming machines are ready, materials are stocked, and the schedule is locked. By mid-morning, you’re coordinating with procurement and sales to balance customer demand with capacity, then coaching team leads through bottlenecks and quality checks. Afternoons are for data: tracking throughput, costs, and safety metrics—and turning insights into continuous improvement actions. You wrap the day by aligning next-day priorities and recognizing wins across the team.

What You’ll Lead

  • Production planning and scheduling: Build and manage detailed schedules to hit on-time delivery targets; anticipate constraints and adjust to resolve delays or shortages.
  • Operations oversight: Direct daily machining and manufacturing activities; ensure raw materials are available and equipment is production-ready.
  • Quality and safety: Uphold quality standards and safety rules; conduct inspections and facilitate ongoing safety training.
  • People leadership: Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate production staff; cultivate a safe, engaged, high-performance culture.
  • Performance optimization: Analyze production data to elevate efficiency, reduce costs, and streamline workflows; drive Lean/continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Reporting and metrics: Deliver clear reports on output, efficiency, and cost to senior leadership.

What You Bring

  • Operations leadership: Demonstrated success leading manufacturing teams and delegating effectively.
  • Problem-solving under pressure: Rapid root-cause analysis and resolution of equipment, process, or staffing issues.
  • Communication: Confident collaboration with procurement, sales, leadership teams, and upper management.
  • Technical fluency: Hands-on understanding of machining/production equipment and processes; experience with production planning systems and data analysis tools.
  • Background: Strength in operations management, manufacturing leadership, production planning, machining, and process improvement.
