Step into the role that sets the pace on the shop floor

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead hands-on machining to produce targets that meet precise customer specifications for tolerance and density. In this front-line leadership role, you plan and execute work across lathes, milling machines, drill presses, bench grinders, and diamond tool grinders to manufacture PVD materials. You’ll also verify quality using precision metrology throughout every run.

A day in the life

  • Set up and run engine lathes, drill presses, milling machines, bench grinders, and diamond tool grinders.
  • Translate drawings, blueprints, and job packets into clear sequences of operations; choose the right gauges and tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, verniers, scales, and more).
  • Calibrate and verify measuring devices on a rotating schedule per Quality Department standards.
  • Document production activity and maintain accurate reports.
  • Report equipment issues; support routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Keep the area spotless—adhere to all quality, safety, and workplace rules.
  • Coach and train new team members; foster active, collaborative problem-solving.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Operate a forklift to move materials, load, and unload (valid license required).

Experience and proficiencies

Work Experience: 1-5 years prior business experience is required
