Job Title
Preschool Teacher Assistant
Term of Employment
10-Month Position
Full-Time (7.5-8 hours per day)
Salary based on the North Carolina State Salary Schedule and local supplements.
Reports To
Preschool Teacher, Principal, and/or Preschool Program Coordinator
Nature of Work
A Preschool Teacher Assistant supports the instructional program by assisting the preschool teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children.
Qualifications
Required: Minimum of 48 semester hours of creditable college coursework from an accredited institution; ability to work effectively with preschool-aged children; effective communication skills.
Preferred: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field; experience with preschool-aged children.
Essential Job Functions
Assist with instruction, classroom management, student supervision, communication with families and staff, and clerical/organizational duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of early childhood development; ability to communicate effectively; ability to supervise children and maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach; lift up to 35 pounds; assist children with daily care needs.
Special Requirements
Must successfully complete all required background checks and training requirements.
