The District
The Freeport School District is a network of 8 schools and serves as a vibrant hub of learning nestled within the heart of Freeport. We serve a diverse population of approximately 7,100 students and seek a knowledgeable, dynamic, child-centered and experienced administrator to serve asPrincipal. Additionally, we have over 250 Universal Pre-K and over 200 Kindergarten students. We are seeking an administrator with a keen understanding of the elementary school curriculum, the social and emotional needs of all students as well as an understanding of the importance of the school as part of the community. A successful candidate will be comfortable adopting appropriate curricula, increasing educational options for students, and holding staff accountable for improving student achievement while giving them strong performance incentives and the authority to make critical instructional decisions.
There is an unmatched commitment to fostering academic, social, and personal growth where students are empowered with a rich curriculum tailored to inspire a lifelong love of learning. Our pre-k students learn basic literacy, numeracy, and science. Social studies skills are taught through direct instruction as well as through an integration of art, music, movement, and play. Our kindergarten has a Dual Language program for some of our students. Through the Dual Language program, the children receive instruction in both English and Spanish. Just as importantly, they learn about the other's culture. Additionally, general education classes as well as classes for children with special needs are part of our kindergarten. And while more "formal" than Pre-K, kindergarten children also learn through direct instruction as well as art, music, movement and play. Our motto is "It All Starts Here."
