We are seeking a Pre-Construction Estimator to join their team. This role plays a critical part in evaluating project opportunities, developing accurate cost estimates, and supporting successful project execution from bid through handoff to operations. The ideal candidate enjoys working with technical project documents, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, and helping drive profitable project outcomes.
What You'll Do as the Pre-Construction Estimator:

  • Prepare detailed and accurate project estimates using appropriate cost codes, phases, and pricing methodologies
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation supporting all estimates and bid submissions
  • Manage and update bid tracking information, including project status and outcomes
  • Review plans, specifications, RFQs, and contract documents to understand project requirements
  • Conduct site visits as needed to gather project information and assess conditions
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams throughout the estimating process
  • Obtain and evaluate material pricing, availability, and subcontractor proposals
  • Develop cost-effective design and material options based on project requirements
  • Ensure estimates align with applicable codes, specifications, and company standards
  • Monitor completed projects and job cost reports to improve future estimating accuracy
  • Support project teams with change order pricing and cost analysis as needed
  • Assist in maintaining estimating systems, processes, and best practices

Must-Haves as the Pre-Construction Estimator:

  • Experience within the casework, millwork, cabinetry, or architectural woodworking industry
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of estimating, construction, engineering, or related experience
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience working with contracts, purchase orders, cost coding, and project documentation
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong attention to detail

Nice-to-Haves as the Pre-Construction Estimator:

  • Familiarity with Planswift or similar estimating software
  • Experience evaluating design alternatives and value engineering opportunities
  • Previous experience coordinating with subcontractors and vendors
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and project management processes
