Job Title: Pre-Analytical Assistant I – 1st Shift Location: Miramar, FL Duration: 7+ Months (Possibility of Extension) Job Summary The Pre-Analytical Assistant I provides essential support within the Technical Operations Department by performing a variety of specimen handling and processing tasks. This role ensures accuracy, efficiency, and compliance while supporting laboratory workflows that directly impact testing quality and turnaround time. Key Responsibilities Perform routine specimen processing functions including: Sorting and racking specimens Specimen pickup and delivery Centrifugation and aliquoting Specimen storage and archiving Ensure all specimens are handled accurately and in compliance with laboratory procedures and safety standards Identify and resolve issues related to specimen integrity, labeling, or missing information Assist with maintaining workflow efficiency by adhering to established turnaround times and productivity standards Accurately complete and maintain required documentation Support team operations by assisting during peak workloads, staff shortages, weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment following 5S principles Learn and support additional functions within Technical Operations for continuous growth Job Accountabilities Develop a clear understanding of specimen processing workflows and their impact on testing quality Demonstrate compliance with test ordering requirements and regulatory policies Research test orders using internal systems and reference tools Meet quality and productivity benchmarks within 6 months of training Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders Exhibit reliability in attendance and punctuality Contribute to a collaborative and team-oriented work environment Required Skills & Competencies Basic data entry and computer skills Strong organizational and multitasking abilities Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment Understanding of specimen types and handling requirements (preferred) Strong attention to detail and accuracy Effective verbal and written communication skills Ability to remain composed under pressure Willingness to adapt to change and support continuous improvement Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work in a biohazard laboratory environment while adhering to safety protocols Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle specimen carts or racks Flexible schedule availability, including weekends, holidays, and overtime Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (required) Medical background preferred (knowledge of medical terminology is a plus) Prior experience in a production or laboratory environment preferred Familiarity with mainframe or laboratory computer systems preferred Additional Expectations Follow company core values, safety, and compliance guidelines Demonstrate good judgment and problem-solving skills Maintain professionalism and commitment to quality serviceI
