Director of Youth and OutreachProposed Job Description and DutiesPosition Summary:The Director of Youth and Outreach will give structure andcoordination to grade 6-12 youth groups, as well ashelping Prairie Edge Church live into its goals ofevangelism and outreach in its neighboring communityand the world.Youth Director Duties and Responsibilities:Middle School Ministrya.Plan and lead at least one evening Bible based meeting per month, Sept-Mayb.Organize regular social activities (approx. 1/month) and regular opportunitiesto serve in church and communityc.Facilitate participation in a middle school retreatd.Seek ways to build relationships with students and connect them with thecongregation.e.Organize fund raisers as necessary.f.Involved in the recruitment of 6th-8th grade Sunday School teacherHigh School Ministrya.Plan and lead, ordinarily, 2 Sunday evening Bible based meetings per month,Sept-May.b.Organize regular social activities (approx. 1/month) and regular opportunitiesto serve in church and communityc.Organize annual service projects, retreats, or special conferences, withfundraisers as needed.d.Seek ways to build relationships with students, include them in worshipservices and the life of the congregation.Post High Ministrya.Regularly evaluate the need and opportunity for a post-high school ministryand offer times to meet as opportunity presents itselfb.Encourage post-high aged individuals to be actively involved in the life of thechurchMiscellaneousa.Put together a "Prairie Edger" newsletter article for each publicationb.Ensure the Youth Ministries website and social media are up to datec.Encourage profession of faith by students at all levels, including post-high;assist senior pastor in teaching pre-profession classes as the need arisesd.Participate in worship services at appropriate times, e.g. youth services,service reports, announcements, invitations, etc.e.Continue furthering skills by attending youth worker trainingsf.Regular attendance at worship services, to set a positive example to youthg.Engaged in regular communication with parents of youthOutreach Duties and Responsibilities:a.Identify, coordinate and ensure execution of various evangelistic andoutreach events. Give leadership, guidance and encourage to the volunteersassembled to lead each event. b.Seek out and develop opportunities to engage our neighborhood and ourwider community for the cause of Christ.c.Coordination of Prairie Edge's various efforts to engage with Sunday visitors.d.Research the possibility of mission and service trips for the congregation, andcoordinate and give aid to the leaders of the ministries that may be involved. e.Equip and inspire members of the congregation to live out a missionallifestyle through training, classes and seminars.f.Serve as a member and possible chairperson of the Outreach T eam.Qualifications:Personal Qualificationsa.Unquestioned commitment to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and a heart forthe lostb.A love for youth and a passion to see them grow and mature in the grace andknowledge of Jesus Christc.Self-motivated, energetic, and able to manage time effectively when it comesto fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.d.Ability to work with a variety of different persons in a kind, professional andpleasant manner, and to work through proper channels in cases of conflict.Professional Qualificationsa.High School diploma or equivalentb.Previous experience working in youth ministry such as a volunteer or leaderc.Must have the administrative, communication and interpersonal skills toeffectively lead, teach and connect with youthd.Must be willing to work in coordination with the Senior Pastor and other staff.e.Must be familiar and in agreement with the teachings of the CRC and themission and vision of Prairie Edge Church.Supervision:The Director of Youth and Outreach will be under theauthority of the Executive Committee of Prairie Edge CRC.The Director of Youth will ordinarily be responsible to theSenior Pastor, in consultation with the ExecutiveCommittee. They will present a written report to Councilmonthly, detailing ministry activities.Compensation and Hours:Hours: 40 hours per weekThe Director of Youth shall receive compensation of $20-24 per hour depending on the education and experienceof the candidate.The following benefits:Paid Time Off accrual of 1 hour per every 40 hours worked
