Medical Assistant Patient Services Coordinator Position Summary The Medical Assistant Patient Services Coordinator serves as a vital member of the healthcare team, providing both clinical and administrative support to ensure high-quality patient care and exceptional patient experience. This hybrid role is responsible for managing front-office operations, assisting providers with clinical activities, coordinating patient services, and supporting efficient practice operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Patient Services Administrative Support Greet and register patients in a professional and welcoming manner. Verify patient demographics, insurance coverage, and eligibility. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments. Answer incoming telephone calls and respond to patient inquiries. Collect copayments, balances, and other patient payments according to established procedures. Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and specialist appointments. Manage incoming and outgoing patient communications, including patient portal messages. Maintain patient records and ensure accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR). Support patient access initiatives and provide exceptional customer service. Clinical Support Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for provider visits. Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, chief complaints, and other relevant patient information. Assist providers during examinations and procedures. Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and treatments as permitted by state regulations and organizational policies. Perform specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and basic laboratory procedures. Prepare, clean, and stock examination rooms and clinical supplies. Follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory compliance standards. Care Coordination Educate patients regarding treatment plans, medications, follow-up appointments, and office procedures as directed by providers. Facilitate communication between patients, providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and other healthcare organizations. Assist with preventive care outreach, recalls, and quality initiatives. Address patient concerns and ensure timely follow-up on requests and questions. Promote a positive, patient-centered care experience. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred. Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent) preferred. One (1) or more years of experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and patient registration processes. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and Microsoft Office applications.
