Summary Serves as a Licensed Practical Nurse within Lyster Army Medical Treatment Facility MTF located within the Primary Care Clinic Fort Rucker AL. This is an open continuous announcement. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

Duties Obtain all vital signs such as blood pressure temperature pulse respirations pain level height weight measurement of head circumference and length and perform behavioral health screenings. Provide individualized nursing care to patients based upon the physicians medical care plan the nursing assessment and the physical mental and emotional needs of the patient. Obtain intravenous IV access and prepare medications and immunizations for administration. Review immunization records and unit Standard Operating Procedures to select required immunizations correct dosages and routes of administration. Administer oral intradermal subcutaneous intramuscular immunizations to all age groups via established protocols. Educate patients andor family regarding self-care procedures and documents teaching. Instruct patients andor family regarding normal verses adverse reactions to immunizations and treatment for normal reactions of discomfort. Review laboratory results and bring abnormal results to attention of physician. Document patients chief complaints and other pertinent information in the health record.

Requirements Conditions of employment This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment. This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen 18 years of age on a recurring basis. This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support BLS certification from or in accordance with the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification e.g. ALS does not supersede BLS. This position requires that you obtain and maintain an Advanced Cardiac Life Support ACLS certification. This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing. This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
