Description: | Under the direction of the Power Plant Mechanic Operator Supervisor, this position maintains, operates, and repairs municipal generation equipment, along with dispatching and performing switching procedures for the City power and water utilities. | |

Qualifications: |
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Knowledge and ability in maintaining and repairing natural gas and diesel engines which includes full engine tear down, inspection and rebuild, spill timing and installation of injection pumps, rebuilding injectors, turbo replacement, web deflection, etc. Knowledge of air compressor equipment, boilers, pumps and valves, cooling tower maintenance and repair, are beneficial skills. A broad knowledge in various types of welding, machining, and operating several types of heavy equipment including overhead crane, backhoe, forklift, etc. would be an advantage. This job requires the ability to perform duties and work for extended periods of time with minimal supervision-often works alone.Must be able to work a rotating shift in a 24/7 plant environment. | |
