Power Generator Technician – Data Center Support

Position Overview:
As a Power Generator Technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and testing of standby and emergency diesel generator systems at data center facilities. This is a home-daily position with a take-home service truck, tools, and company-provided resources to support your work in the field.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on diesel and natural gas generator systems, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and switchgear at data center locations.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair generator engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, and electrical components.
- Respond to service calls, perform load bank testing, and ensure full system readiness for emergency power scenarios.
- Accurately document service reports, maintenance logs, and parts used in compliance with customer and internal standards.
- Coordinate with onsite data center personnel and electrical contractors to maintain uptime and power continuity.
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures, ensuring high standards in cleanroom or secure facility environments.
- Participate in an on-call rotation as needed for emergency service work (overtime available).
Qualifications:- 3+ years of experience working on industrial diesel generator systems (brands such as Cummins, CAT, MTU, Kohler, Generac, etc.).
- Familiarity with generator controls, paralleling switchgear, and load transfer systems in mission-critical environments.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (CDL not required).
- Must be able to pass background screening for secure site access.
