General Summary

A Power Equipment Operator is responsible for the efficient transportation, delivery, and retrieval of merchandise to various locations throughout the distribution center. This role may require standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50lbs, and working in a non-climate-controlled environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Loads and unloads merchandise from trailers and departments, ensuring proper carton count. Shuttles retrieves and delivers pallets to designated areas according to pick lists. Transport empty pallets to designated areas. Scans merchandise into locations via the RF Gun. Insures there is no overhang of merchandise. Insures there are no broken or damaged goods. Occasional shrink wrap of cartons. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Communicates problems and concerns to the Lead and/or Area Manager. Maintains an accurate power equipment log. Attentiveness to pedestrian and equipment traffic. Other duties as assigned.

Must move to other departments based on the needs of the department facility and company.

Required Skills

Complete up to 8 hours of training on power equipment. Must pass written and driving tests for power equipment certification. Excellent hand and eye coordination skills. Must be capable of operating steering hand and foot controls simultaneously. Ability to read and recognize applicable numbers and directives. Ability to read, recognize, and follow applicable numbers and directives (verbal and written, including safety rules, operating instructions, racking locations, and procedural documents). Able to follow policies and procedures that are written, verbally provided. Understand basic math skills to ensure inventory and order processing accuracy (count, add, subtract, etc. numbers). Ability to perform duties independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision or guidance.

Frequent bending, lifting, walking, pushing, pulling of freight, standing for long periods of time, and sometimes working in extreme temperatures. Lift and stack cartons onto pallets and conveyors using proper lifting and operating procedures. Safely utilize manually operated equipment, such as pallet jacks, rolling conveyors, pick carts, totes, hand trucks, to transport cartons or other items by means of pushing, pulling, lifting, or carrying.

Experience

1 year of warehouse, distribution, logistics, or fulfillment experience is helpful but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working within an automated conveyor-based operation. Stand-up power equipment experience preferred. Experience with computer barcode-driven inventory management systems. Prior knowledge of WMS functions. Skilled using a RF scanner.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent.
