The postdoctoral fellow will have two main projects focusing on but not be limited to: 1) developing and validating a mathematical framework for image guided cancer therapy to model the distribution and effect of heated nanoparticles on tumors, and 2) the fluid mechanics of drug delivery in tumors. The postdoctoral fellow will be co-supervised by Dr. David Fuentes and Dr. Jason Stafford in the Department of Imaging Physics. The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to actively participate in research, seminars, mentoring of junior lab members, and related academic endeavors. Scope of Work: Computational fluid mechanics for predicting and optimizing drug delivery.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This postdoctoral fellow will engage in numerical methods for image guided therapy. The postdoctoral fellow will expand their knowledge and skills in developing finite element methods to predict transport within biological tissue.
The postdoctoral fellow will participate in the following activities:
- develop image processing pipeline to extract geometry for analysis
- develop mathematical models of image guided therapy within perfused tissue
- develop numerical method to predict treatment output
- conference presentations, manuscripts from on numerical methods and results
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants should have earned a PhD in one of the natural sciences, computer sciences, engineering, or related fields or a medical degree. Experience with machine learning and deep learning techniques, statistical modeling, biomechanical modeling, or image registration and analysis is preferred.
POSITION INFORMATION
MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000. depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience.
