About the Role
FLATS®, a Proper company, is seeking a dependable and hands-on Porter / Maintenance Technician to support the overall upkeep, functionality, and presentation of our residential community.
This role goes beyond basic cleaning—you’ll play a key part in maintaining the property’s physical condition, assisting with minor repairs, and ensuring a safe, well-kept environment for residents. This is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of maintenance work and property upkeep and takes pride in keeping things running smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain cleanliness and general upkeep of common areas including lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevators, and amenity spaces
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as light repairs, bulb replacements, basic plumbing fixes, and preventative upkeep
Assist with work orders and support the maintenance team with day-to-day operational needs
Conduct regular property walks to identify maintenance issues, safety concerns, or cleanliness needs
Support unit turns, including trash removal, light repairs, and preparation for new residents
Maintain exterior areas, including walkways, parking areas, ad grounds, ensuring they are clean and hazard-free
Respond promptly to spills, maintenance requests, and urgent property needs
Assist with moving materials, equipment, and supplies as needed
Report larger maintenance issues or safety concerns to the appropriate team members
Ensure tools, equipment, and storage areas are organized and properly maintained
Requirements
Qualifications
Previous experience in maintenance, porter, or facilities roles (residential or commercial preferred)
Basic knowledge of general maintenance (plumbing, electrical, HVAC a plus)
Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, and prolonged standing or walking
Strong attention to detail and proactive approach to problem-solving
Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
Basic communication skills and ability to follow safety procedures
Flexibility to work a full-time schedule, including occasional evenings or weekends
