Are You the One Who Gets Things Moving?

Do you thrive where steel meets skill—on conveyors, under man-lifts, and beside roaring hoists? At Core Natural Resources, we need a mechanical pro who keeps coal flowing from rail to vessel and equipment ready for the next shift.

Picture This

A vessel is at berth. A conveyor trips. You scan the schematic, isolate the fault, realign a motor, and swap a bearing. With the line stable, you strike an oxy/acetylene bead to repair a guard, then jump into a forklift to assist operations. You log a safety review, close out work, and leave the terminal stronger than you found it—all while living our values: Safety, Sustainability & Continuous Improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Maintain and repair terminal equipment to maximize availability and reliability
  • Operate mobile equipment—forklift, manual shift truck, JLG man-lift, crane truck—to support coal transshipment
  • Read and apply prints, drawings, schematics, and manuals for troubleshooting
  • Weld with oxy/acetylene across various angles and material thicknesses
  • Fabricate and lay out small parts for minor equipment repairs and improvements
  • Perform pre-task safety reviews and follow the Safe Work Instruction Program
  • Cross-train on loaders, dozers, locomotives, and cranes
  • Work solo effectively and communicate clearly with teammates and leadership

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience that includes machine maintenance
  • Preferred millwright skills: bearing replacement and motor alignment
  • Rigging know-how; comfortable around cranes and hoists
  • Proficiency with hand tools plus strong mechanical and fabrication ability
  • Clear written and interpersonal communication; basic math skills
  • Physical readiness to stand for long periods and work in confined spaces, at heights, and in extreme weather
  • Availability for rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime

Strengths That Set You Apart

  • Heavy equipment repair expertise
  • Mechanical troubleshooting and industrial automation diagnostics
  • Machine safety inspections and hazard recognition
  • Experience within manufacturing or heavy industrial environments

Systems You’ll Work With

  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for basic fault-finding and interface checks
  • Conveyor systems for inspection, adjustment, and repair
