SummaryResponsible for the safe operations and supervision of City swimming pools. Provides leadership and technical assistance to aquatics team. Enforces aquatics facility rules, policies, and procedures. Maintains open communication with patrons and aquatics team. Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays. This is a seasonal position at the aquatics division and the start of a 3rd season and has maintained current certification.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervises and manages the daily pool operations; maintains clean and safe facilityAssists in planning, training, evaluating lifeguards and monitors pool programmingGenerates and implements schedules, lifeguard rotation, and daily assignmentsMonitors activities and ensures lifeguards observe swimmers, inspect equipment and pool area is properly maintained/cleanedProvides instructions and prevents accidents in the aquatic's facilitiesManages pump room procedures including chemical readings, balancing and filtrationHyper-chlorinates pool water when there is an incidentInspects facility regularly and reports immediately any unsafe conditions/equipmentMonitors safety guidelines and ensures proper rescue techniques are performedManages first aid or CPR according to prescribed procedures; notifies emergency medical personnel when necessaryAssists with front desk operation and transactionsPerforms safety inspections and basic maintenance procedures to assure safetyEnsures the pool and the related pool areas are clean and maintainedUses RecTrac for daily attendance and maintains financial and operating records/reportsManages routine disciplinary issues, documents incidents, and communicates each to the supervisorAssists with special recreational activities such as athletic events, instructional programs, special projectsAttends in-service training weekly to review lifeguard skillsArrives to assigned shift on time; adheres to attendance and shift trading policiesDrives between designated aquatics facilitiesPerforms other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalentTwo seasons of experience as a lifeguardOne season of experience in a manager role or performed similar leadership responsibilities in related areaKnowledge of water safety practices and usage of water safety equipmentPass swimming skills test and basic water safety practices and usage of water safety equipment test
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English & Spanish
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Current certification with American Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First AideValid driver's license
