Polysomnographic Technician
Location: Utica, NY
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Polysomnographic Technician to join a Sleep Disorders Center team providing overnight diagnostic testing and patient monitoring. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical and technical skills with experience conducting sleep studies for a wide range of sleep and wake disorders.
This position involves working with adolescent through geriatric patient populations in a clinical sleep laboratory environment.
Schedule
- Night Shift | 3x12-Hour
- Shift Hours: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct overnight polysomnographic sleep studies and patient monitoring
- Prepare patients for sleep studies and explain procedures clearly
- Monitor and document patient activity, physiological responses, and sleep patterns
- Identify and respond to patient safety concerns during studies
- Operate and troubleshoot sleep study equipment and monitoring systems
- Maintain accurate documentation and study records
- Collaborate with physicians and Sleep Disorders Center staff regarding patient evaluations and study findings
- Ensure compliance with patient safety, infection control, and departmental procedures

Minimum Qualifications
Education & Training
Completion of one of the following:
- Accredited Respiratory Therapy training program
- Training in a related allied health field with enrollment or completion of:
- A-STEP Online Self Study Modules
- CAAHEP accredited sleep technology training program
- Electroneurodiagnostic (END) program
- Respiratory therapy add-on track for sleep technology
Licensure & Certifications
One of the following required:
- New York State licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner with NBRC registration
- New York State licensure as a Polysomnographic Technologist
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with patients, laboratory studies, or a related clinical field
