Description
The Office of Supervisor Sylvia Arenas is recruiting for a Policy Aide Fellowship position. The position serves as a policy analyst in direct support of the elected official. The position will provide support with policy analysis, research, communication, event planning, community outreach, and other related matters as needed. The position requires an individual with strong and effective organizational skills; ability to handle multiple assignments with competing deadlines; excellent written and oral communications skills, including the ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with community members, neighborhood organizations, key stakeholders, and County staff. Experience and knowledge of public policy and analysis are highly desirable. Bilingual language skills (Vietnamese, Spanish, and/or Chinese), both oral and written, are desirable, but not required.
The fellowship position is an unclassified, at-will position that is not within the County's classified civil service. As such, either the fellow or the Board Office may end the fellowship at any time and for any reason. The preliminary intent is for the fellowship to be up to one year; and not to extend past the end of the Supervisor's or appointing authority's term. Candidates must be willing to work evenings and weekends on occasion, and as salaried employees, are not eligible for overtime compensation.
