The City of Pasadena is currently seeking Police Records Technicians with strong attention to detail, customer service, and administrative support experience. The current vacancies are in the Police Department - Records Section and performs duties specifically related to the preparation and maintenance of police records.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment supporting the needs of a variety of individuals, including law enforcement personnel. The successful candidates must be able to work a varied schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays on a regular basis.
Must type 35 net words per minute with 95% accuracy. Please note that qualified applicants will be invited to take an online typing test administered by the City. Applicants that do not receive a passing score on the online typing test will not be considered for further consideration. Please do not attach a typing certificate to your application.
Current City of Pasadena employees who hold a position that requires the same or more words per minute are not required to take the online typing test. Employees are responsible for verifying the typing requirement for their current classification.

VACANCY INFORMATION
There are currently multiple vacancies in the Police Department, Records Section. The resulting eligibility list from this recruitment may be used to fill the vacancies and similar vacancies in the future.
Candidates selected for this position are subject to a one-year probationary work period.
Special Requirements
Successful completion of P.O.S.T. Records Certification within the first six months of employment.
Successful completion of Livescan Operator/Fingerprint Roller Certification through the
Department of Justice (DOJ) within the first six months of employment.
Successful completion of the state-mandated CLETS training program as required by the California State Department of Justice (DOJ) within six months of date of employment and ongoing maintenance of CLETS certification.
Must possess a valid California Class C drivers license and comply with the Citys Motor Vehicle Safety Policy during the course of employment.

Will be required to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation is required which may include a review of employment history, criminal conviction record, credit history, use of intoxicants and/or other controlled substances, and psychological evaluation.
Retirement:
The City of Pasadena contracts with the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS) to offer a defined benefits program for eligible employees.
"New" CalPERS members are subject to the provisions of the Public Employees' Pension Reform Act of 2013 (PEPRA) and receive the following benefit formula: 2% at 62
"Classic" members of CalPERS receive the following benefit formula: 2.5% at 55
