Point of Care (POC) Specialist (SC, Beaufort)

JOB SUMMARY: The Point of Care (POC) Specialist is responsible for the accuracy and reliability of all laboratory testing provided by Point of Care staff (nurses, physicians, clinics, RT, etc.) within the Beaufort Memorial Hospital system.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Associate in Science or Bachelor of Science degree in medical terminology, biology, chemistry, or related science.

EXPERIENCE: More than two (2) years experience in a medical laboratory setting. Point of Care (POC) testing experience preferred.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Exemplary customer service skills Collegiate level mathematical, computer, reasoning, and language skills

CERTIFICATIONS/ LICENSES: Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) required. Certification through ASCP preferred.

ONGOING COMPETENCIES:

• Annual Review of Fire/Safety/Disaster Plan
• Initial moderate complexity testing assessments for each clinical department
• 6 month moderate complexity testing assessments for each clinical department
• 12 month moderate complexity testing assessments for each clinical department
• Annual ongoing moderate complexity assessment for each clinical department
• CAP Proficiency testing as assigned
