The Shipping Assistant is responsible for coordinating all communication between the Warehouse and other internal departments as well as external parties, including but not limited to: Sales, Planning, Purchasing, Quality, Engineering, Customers, Forwarding Agents, Dispatchers, Vendors, and the like. Prepares for the shipment of quality strand/cable/wire rope and all necessary/required documentation for customers/agents by utilizing standard machinery, materials, tools, and equipment while following ISO/AS work instructions, assuring adherence to quality and continuous improvement standards is necessary to fulfilling the needs of customers and outside service vendors. Generates shipping schedules and prepares picklists/Shipping Advices to be fulfilled by the necessary material handling personnel. Performs other duties as required but which comply with ADA.

• Documentation must be accurate, legible, readily identifiable, retrievable and completed in a timely fashion. Maintain documentation to ensure retrieval of data and protection of proprietary information. Records (paper or electronic) such as: test records, Lotus, Visual (tags, issuing), WO, PO, PMs, logs, pick list, shipping advices and the like are required to prove conformity.
• Ensure data entry is done timely.
• Able to identify and respond to material/products that are non-conforming. Knows criteria for acceptance/rejection. Familiar with Hold Tags, NMR, RMA's, First Article Inspection, Disposition of Scrap or Expired Material, and the like, as applicable.
• Transactions are reliably processed and reported, delivered on time and in a cost-effective manner, inventory and systems are adequately secured, materials meet required quality standards, and all delivery/receipt processes comply with all applicable laws and regulations
• Support the production team by performing other related work as instructed by supervisors
• Performs manual duties which generate the shipment of all products, materials, and supplies in accordance with standard practices and procedures. Adjusts schedules to maintain continuous movement of materials at a correct and safe rate of flow, masks designated areas and prepares products for shipment/delivery. Coordinates movement and destination of materials, goods, and/or supplies from work orders, manifests, maintenance records, shipping/handling instructions, picking lists, and routing instructions including on-site approval verification to specifications.
• Domestic and international shipping, accurate transaction of all finished goods, troubleshooting discrepancies.
• Verifies correctness of outgoing shipments and maintains records of shortages and/or damaged goods. May use CRT to enter inventory transactions. Inputs timely and accurate data into the companys computer system.
• Communicates on a regular basis with supervisor/s, technician/s and co-workers regarding the shipment, supply of products, procedures and issues regarding scheduling.
• Determine any suggestions for process improvements. Timely and accurately provides technical/scheduling/process knowledge to obtain optimum production utilization and minimize scrap loss ensuring proper machine/equipment/people usage. Make necessary adjustments to correct quality defects after consulting with Supervision.
• Regular and predictable "physical presence" on-site attendance is an essential job function and prerequisite to perform other functions of the job. • May be trained in or provide training in continuous improvement techniques, these include but are not limited to, facilitating work teams, computer training, authorizing, reviewing and updating work instructions, problem solving and communication techniques. Attends and constructively participates in team meetings as scheduled.

• Maintain a clean and organized work area by following daily housekeeping, PM's, and FOD standards. Ensure the work and/or storage areas are clean prior to packing, movement, or shipment; as an operation progresses and work debris accumulates; when an operation cannot continue, after an operation is completed and prior to inspection and at the end of each shift.
• Inspect equipment in use through troubleshooting, checking for any problems in them and notifying Supervision immediately if any, in order to prevent breakdown in the course of work.
• Responsible for ensuring that prescribed personal protective equipment devices are used/worn. Observes safety and security procedures; advises Supervision/Management of potential and actual hazards/conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly at all times; Works in a manner that promotes prevention of accidents/ injuries/illness; practices good hygiene and takes every reasonable precaution in the circumstances for the protection of yourself and co-workers.

• Accountability looks at both effectiveness (whether or not a person is actually doing what should be done and achieving the outcomes desired) and efficiency (whether or not a person is performing in a productive and timely manner). Measures and standards of performance are derived from individual goals and objectives as outlined in reviews, supervision observations and department/company goals. Performance can be measured by trade tests, initiative, adaptability, attendance and compliance with supervisors/company/safety policies and procedures, monthly employee productivity efficiency reports, rating of housekeeping, effective communication with peers and percentage of scrap individual and collectively, and the like. Productivity levels, cost-effectiveness and quality of product/service as compared to compliance with error tolerance levels established by customer specifications (RMAs, C/A, rework); Number of customer/client complaints filed; Percentage of scrap produced both individual and collectively; On-time delivery; Accuracy of information entered into databases, on work orders or other documentation; Documentation accuracy and timeliness.

• Quality, quantity and length of completion time will be measured by ISO/AS and department guidelines to evaluate performance, productivity and efficiency. Correct usage of SPC will be measured by evaluating quarterly reports that depict CPK. Tracking internal complaints, participation in team problem solving, cooperation with co-workers and departments will also be evaluated.
• Working knowledge of shipping will be evaluated by proficiency on forklifts, number of orders shipped in comparison to a normal output and customer service with employees, if applicable. Monitoring and adjusting will be measured by operation time, percentage of on-time delivery, product and process specifications quality. Documentation will be evaluated by accuracy and timeliness.
• Communication: Usage of resources with peers, interdepartmental and employees is measured by the percentage of time and number of issues resolved on the floor without direct interaction with the supervisor and effective participation in meetings. Able to solicit and respect the viewpoints of others. Able to think pro-actively and reactivity, organizes and plan, understand new information and respond to safety issues, habits and/or accidents. Rating of housekeeping. Able to assist in the monitoring of employee productivity and to resolve or encourage proficiency. Understands department cost and cost containment methods including but not limited to scrap, broken hardware, turnover, training and all accidents. Effectiveness of a facilitator and SPC will be measured by participate scoring and feedback including the evaluation of minutes and project team agendas concentrating on content, time management, clarity, direction and action. Training of and correct usage of SPC will be measured by evaluating quarterly reports that measure and show the quantity of variations in CPK. Tracking internal complaints and resolutions through team problem solving, cooperation and coaching/mentoring with employees, peers and departments will also be evaluated. Documentation will be evaluated by accuracy and timeliness, when applicable.

• Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word, Lotus Notes, Excel. Experience with data entry. Previous shipping/receiving computer programs helpful.

Ability to effectively and clearly communicate information and ideas with willingness to share knowledge, skills, and expertise with others. • Education and/or Experience Required:
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years of manufacturing experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Valid and maintained drivers license. Previous fork-lift experience helpful.
• Must have or acquire data entry skills for an SPC computer program, FEDEX/UPS computer systems.
• Must have or acquire data entry skills for the companys computer program.
• Must be 18 years of age or over. Must comply with the companys Drug, Alcohol Abuse and Firearms Policy.
