Supervising quality plumbing from the ground up. The Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), Maintenance Support Services Division, has one (1) vacancy for Plumbing Supervisor I in Pearl City.

What You Will Do Supervise plumbing work involving the installation, maintenance and repair of water, gas, drainage and sewer systems and necessary fittings and accessories. Plan, assign, and inspect the work of subordinates. Estimate cost, material, and labor requirements on new installations and repair work. Keep records of materials, supplies, and work performed. Prepare reports and read and interpret blueprints and specifications.

Special Work Requirements Heavy lifting and carrying. May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Will serve as a Disaster Response Worker during declared emergencies.

Minimum Qualification Requirements At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.

Experience Requirement: Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to show competence in plumbing work involving the installation, maintenance and repair of water, gas, drainage and sewer systems and necessary fittings and accessories in buildings and structures.

Applicable Skills Needed:

  • Knowledge of plumbing supervision principles and best practices
  • Understanding of plumbing methods, materials, tools, and system operations
  • Familiarity with plumbing laws, codes, ordinances, and State Department of Health regulations
  • Ability to lead teams effectively and maintain positive working relationships; communicate clearly through oral and written instructions; and maintain and prepare records/reports

License/Certificate Requirement: At time of application: Valid Hawaii State drivers license (Type 3/automobile). Valid Hawaii State journey-level plumbers certificate of registration.
