Job Title: Plumbing Operations Manager
Job Description
The Plumbing Operations Manager leads the overall success of the plumbing division focused on new residential construction. This role oversees daily field operations, ensures projects meet schedule, cost, and quality goals, and drives continuous improvement across teams. The manager collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and subcontractors, mentors leaders at all levels, and develops strategies that optimize labor, reduce inefficiencies, and support the continued growth of the business.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of area managers, supervisors, and tradespeople within the plumbing division for new residential construction projects.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to forecast demand and plan labor and materials effectively for upcoming projects.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with subcontractor agencies, shared services teams, area managers, and supervisors to align on project needs and priorities.
- Monitor schedule adherence to ensure projects stay on track and meet agreed timelines.
- Track and manage job costs to support profitability and efficient use of resources.
- Monitor inspection pass rates and drive corrective actions to maintain high quality and compliance standards.
- Provide strong leadership to field operations teams, setting expectations and modeling best practices.
- Regularly observe and review field activities to ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are met.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization and with external partners.
- Mentor and coach area managers to enhance their leadership capabilities and improve overall team performance.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize labor utilization and reduce operational inefficiencies.
- Support the growth of the plumbing division by identifying opportunities for improvement and contributing to long-term planning.
Essential Skills
- Proven plumbing construction experience, particularly in new residential construction environments.
- 10+ years of leadership experience with a mechanical contractor, leading field operations and teams.
- Strong construction management skills, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Hands-on experience supervising area managers, supervisors, and tradespeople in a construction setting.
- Ability to monitor and manage job costs, schedule adherence, and inspection pass rates.
- Demonstrated capability to develop and implement strategies that optimize labor and reduce inefficiencies.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with subcontractor agencies, shared services, and internal stakeholders.
- Proven leadership and mentoring skills to coach and develop team members at multiple levels.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in both residential and commercial construction environments is beneficial.
- Expereince working with mechanical, plumbing, or HVAC divisions within a larger construction organization.
- Comfort working alongside internal engineering, CAD, and BIM teams.
- Interest in developing apprentices and superintendents through structured training and on-the-job coaching.
- Motivation to contribute to business growth and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Plumbing Operations Manager partners with internal engineering, CAD, and BIM teams and leverages structured training programs for apprentices and superintendents. The position involves regular interaction with job sites, field personnel, and office-based shared services, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and collaboration.

The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $160000.00/yr.
