A well-established mechanical construction and engineering organization is seeking a Plumbing Engineer to support the design and execution of commercial and institutional building projects.

This role will be responsible for the design, coordination, and documentation of plumbing and building systems while collaborating with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical design capabilities, a solid understanding of building systems, and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design plumbing systems for commercial and institutional facilities, including sanitary waste, venting, domestic water distribution, storm drainage, and natural gas piping systems.
- Perform engineering calculations, equipment sizing, pipe sizing, and system layouts in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes.
- Develop construction drawings, specifications, and supporting design documentation for building systems.
- Select and specify plumbing equipment and related building system components.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable local, state, and national building codes and industry standards.
- Coordinate design activities with architects, owners, contractors, vendors, and other engineering disciplines throughout all project phases.
- Participate in client meetings to gather project requirements, present design concepts, and resolve technical issues.
- Support Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination efforts and attend project coordination meetings.
- Review project documents for accuracy, quality, and constructability.
- Manage smaller projects or designated portions of larger projects while maintaining schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Assist with troubleshooting design challenges and developing practical engineering solutions.
- Communicate technical information effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.



Key Requirements:

- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience supporting commercial or institutional building projects.
- At least 5 years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing systems for buildings.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Working knowledge of national building codes, industry standards, and engineering best practices.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical design skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Experience with AutoCAD Fabrication software is a plus.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows and multidisciplinary coordination processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience supporting mechanical construction, design-build, or integrated project delivery environments preferred.
- Strong understanding of plumbing system design, equipment selection, and code compliance requirements.
