Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Plumbing Design Manager to lead a team of approximately eight Plumbing Designers and Engineers supporting large-scale pharmaceutical projects. This position will provide technical leadership, team supervision, quality oversight, and guidance on department initiatives, workflows, standardization, and innovation.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in an MEP design environment, strong knowledge of plumbing systems, and the ability to lead technical teams while ensuring high-quality deliverables are completed on schedule and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Manage and provide overall supervision for a team of approximately eight Plumbing Designers and Engineers.
- Perform and oversee plumbing design assignments for large pharmaceutical projects.
- Provide technical reviews of plumbing design work, calculations, drawings, and other project deliverables.
- Ensure designs meet project requirements, applicable codes, quality standards, and schedule expectations.
- Lead the team through department initiatives, workflow improvements, standardization efforts, and innovation.
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to plumbing design team members.
- Collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, designers, and other key personnel.
- Help identify and resolve technical issues and design challenges.
- Manage time and resources effectively to ensure work is completed within budgeted hours and project schedules.
- Support continuous improvement of department processes, tools, and design practices.
Qualifications
- Technical or Associate Degree from an accredited technical institution or college in Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in an MEP design environment.
- Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) certification preferred.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of plumbing systems and design.
- Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, or other plumbing design software.
- Experience supporting large-scale pharmaceutical or similarly complex industrial projects preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems and address technical challenges effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with key personnel at all levels.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to produce accurate, high-quality designs within budgeted hours and project schedules.
- Proven leadership ability and experience managing or supervising technical design teams.
