Atomic Machines is ushering in a new era of micromanufacturing with its Matter Compiler technology. This full-stack technology enables new classes of micromachines to be designed and built by offering manufacturing processes and a materials library that is inaccessible to semiconductor manufacturing methods. It promises to unlock MEMS manufacturing for the many device classes frustrated by semiconductor methods and to open up entirely new product classes. The Matter Compiler technology fully realizes the digital manufacturing dream: bits and raw materials go in, and complete, functional micromachines come out.  The Atomic Machines team has also created an exciting first device – one that was only made possible by the existence of the Matter CompilerTM technology – that we will be unveiling to the world soon.

Our offices are in Emeryville and Santa Clara, California.

About the role:

At Atomic Machines, we're completely rethinking how things are built—and we need a PLM/CAD Administrator with a science or engineering background who can make our revolutionary technology easy to communicate. In this role, you'll use your technical expertise to capture detailed engineering concepts, development of cutting-edge manufacturing processes, and innovative product specs into clear, concise documentation. Your audience will include everyone from fellow engineers to fabricators, our internal shop and future customers. You'll be part of a small, passionate team shaping the company's processes and products, and your work will be key in bringing a whole new category of devices to life. If you love the challenge of diving deep into technical details and communicating them in a way that helps share to the engineering community, we'd love to hear from you!

What You'll Do:

  • Support CAD administration, in Onshape with connection to Arena.
  • Support users with document creation and release, mainly assembly drawings.
  • Preliminary design release check for drawing completeness and accuracy.
  • Create Work Instructions (SOPs) so people can easily follow step-by-step processes.
  • Document control engineer release management.
  • Create guides, schedules, and templates for new hires so they can hit the ground running.
  • Keep an organized knowledge base of best practices, FAQs, and lessons learned.
  • Partner with engineers, product managers, and designers to gather details and confirm design release accuracy.
  • Serve as the go-to person for questions about documentation and CAD design needs.
  • Establish style guides and templates to keep content consistent and user-friendly.
  • Continuously refine our approaches to ensure the highest quality documentation.
  • Learn new tools and trends that can improve our docs and processes.
  • Keep an eye on user feedback and champion documentation improvements whenever needed.
  • The majority of work will be out of our Emeryville office with occasional support in our Santa Clara office.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or another technical science/engineering discipline (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3–6 years of experience in CAD administration, PLM administration, engineering systems, product engineering, manufacturing engineering, or field/application engineering.
  • Experience supporting CAD and PLM systems in an engineering environment (Onshape and/or Arena preferred).
  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation, design release processes, revision control, and document lifecycle management.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings for completeness, accuracy, and release readiness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, technicians, and manufacturing teams to gather technical information and resolve documentation issues.
  • Experience developing technical documentation such as SOPs, work instructions, templates, standards, or engineering guides.
  • Ability to train and support engineering teams on CAD, PLM, documentation, and release processes.
  • Knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14 drafting standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
  • Proactive, process-oriented mindset with a passion for improving engineering workflows and documentation quality.

The compensation for this position also includes equity and benefits.
