Senior Renewable Controls Specialist
Location: Fort Stockton, TX; Onsite- light travel within local area occasionally
Terms: 6+ month contract;
Senior Controls Specialist with experience in the renewable energy sector. This role is onsite and will be a minimum 6-month contract with opportunities for extensions.
This person will have experience providing technical leadership in the planning, design, implementation, and maintenance of renewable plant control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and associated instrumentation. This role also supports system reliability and performance improvements while guiding junior engineers, technical specialists, and contractors while collaborating with senior engineering staff and leadership on complex projects.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support for renewable control systems, including PLCs, SCADA, instrumentation, and related software (patching, upgrades, troubleshooting)
Program, configure, and upgrade SCADA systems
Analyze and improve control processes to enhance system reliability, availability, and performance
Lead troubleshooting, calibration, and maintenance of control systems, communication networks, and associated equipment
Diagnose and resolve OPC communication and control system issues; implement system enhancements
Support planning, design, and execution of control system upgrades, expansions, and maintenance projects
Maintain remote monitoring systems, including alarm management and data integrity
Assist with control system diagnostics and support resolution of electrical, mechanical, and operational issues
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, technical staff, and contractors
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering, a related technical discipline, or business
Equivalent combination of education and 6+ years of relevant experience may be considered
8+ years of hands-on experience with PLC programming and industrial control systems
Strong understanding of plant operations and ability to optimize control systems to reduce downtime and costs
Skills & Competencies
Advanced knowledge of controls, instrumentation, and SCADA systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple priorities
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Access, Word)
