SUMMER SEASONAL
PLAYLEADER
Under general supervision, as a seasonal worker, organizes and directs the recreational activities at a playground or play center or assists in directing such activities at a recreation center.
The Detroit Parks & Recreation Department (DPRD) provides recreation and leisure activities for all who live, work and play in Metro Detroit. With 309 Parks and 11 recreation centers, DPRD connects communities with parks, programs and facilities to positively impact their health and wellness.
Whether its a family picnic at one of our newly renovated neighborhood parks, taking one of the many classes offered at our recreation centers, or enjoying an outdoor concert at Hart Plaza or Chene Park, were making it happen! With programs for youth, adults and seniors, DPRD strives to be the premier recreation service provider in Metro Detroit.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Graduation or G.E.D and completion of one (1) year of college coursework in community recreation, physical education, or a related field.
One (1) year of experience in conducting organized recreational activities or in some athletic or related activity.

Candidates considered for placement in this classification may be subject to a Criminal Background Investigation based on the requirements of the position.
Employees who hold Special Service titles are only eligible for Benefits after working 1,440 hours in a fiscal year. Special veterans preference (up to 15 points) and domicile credits (15 points) may be given to eligible candidates who are successful on the oral appraisal. This class is designated as a Special Service class to be administered under the provisions of Chapter 13 of Detroit City Code.
