Platform AdministratorPosition Summary
We are seeking a skilled Platform Administrator to join our Platform & Operations Engineering team as a technical specialist. This is an individual contributor role responsible for the day-to-day management, maintenance, and operation of Neptunes platform systems, infrastructure, and services that support mission-critical applications. The successful candidate will ensure the reliability, security, and optimal performance of platform infrastructure across our multi-location enterprise environment. You will work collaboratively with the Platform Lead and broader IT Operations teams to maintain systems.
Primary Responsibilities
• Microsoft Entra Integration & Identity Management Support • Support Microsoft Entra integrations that enable enterprise application connectivity and identity management • Assist in implementing Microsoft Entra integration approaches and connectors aligned with organizational needs and security requirements • Troubleshoot identity and access management issues under guidance • Contribute to documentation and standards for Microsoft Entra implementations across the enterprise • Support conditional access policies, authentication flows, and identity governance configurations • Assist with identity federation, SSO implementations, and directory integration projects
• Automation & Orchestration Support • Assist in implementing automation scripts and solutions to streamline operational processes and reduce manual work • Support orchestration workflows for operational processes and runbooks • Contribute to automation platform testing and implementation initiatives under guidance • Document automation solutions and standard operating procedures • Execute automation-based operational tasks and updates
• ITSM Tooling & Process Support • Support Jira and related ITSM tooling across the organization as a technical contributor • Assist in implementing and optimizing ITSM processes for service delivery and incident management workflows • Configure and customize Jira to support Service Desk, incident management, change management, and project tracking • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for ITSM tooling issues • Support training and documentation for teams on ITSM tooling and process adoption
• Monitoring & Observability Support • Assist in implementing monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions across enterprise infrastructure • Support deployment and maintenance of monitoring platforms that provide visibility into system health and performance • Contribute to managing observability platforms that are shared resources used by infrastructure, development, and operations teams • Help establish metrics, dashboards, and alerting strategies aligned with business objectives • Troubleshoot monitoring and observability issues and assist in optimizing alert tuning • Provide technical support to teams utilizing shared observability platforms
• Asset Management & CMDB Support • Support the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) by contributing accurate, up-to-date infrastructure and application data • Assist in implementing asset management processes and maintain asset data quality standards • Support integrating CMDB with other operational tools and automation platforms • Conduct asset data audits and support CMDB reconciliation activities • Work with teams to establish and maintain asset naming conventions and classification standards • Support CMDB data governance policies and procedures
• Patch Testing & Deployment • Assist in implementing patch management processes and workflows across infrastructure environments • Execute patch testing procedures that balance security requirements with operational stability • Support patch deployment using orchestration and configuration management tools • Maintain patch deployment documentation and communicate patch status to stakeholders • Analyze patch failures and assist in implementing remediation strategies • Ensure compliance with security patching requirements and audit standards
• Configuration Management • Assist in implementing and maintaining configuration management systems ensuring consistent, auditable infrastructure configurations • Contribute to developing configuration standards, baselines, and version control processes • Support configuration standards documentation and decision tracking for infrastructure systems • Identify and remediate configuration drift across infrastructure environments • Maintain runbooks and operational documentation for configuration procedures • Support standardized deployment processes and configuration consistency
• Secrets Management & Security Support • Assist in implementing enterprise secrets management solutions for secure credential storage and rotation • Support secrets lifecycle management, access control, and audit logging procedures • Contribute to integrating secrets management systems with applications, infrastructure, and automation platforms • Support secure secrets handling practices and team training • Assist in conducting technical reviews of secrets management implementations under guidance
• Cross-Functional Collaboration & Technical Support • Provide technical support and troubleshooting to internal teams utilizing operational platforms • Participate in cross-functional technical projects and contribute to enterprise infrastructure discussions • Support design reviews and technical guidance on operational platform implementations • Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and team technical discussions • Escalate complex technical issues appropriately to Platform
Education/Experience:
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or international equivalent) • 1+ years of professional experience in platform administration, systems administration, infrastructure operations, or similar roles • Knowledge of at least one of the following domains: Microsoft Entra/identity management, automation orchestration, ITSM tooling, monitoring/observability, or configuration management • Proficiency with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar) • Working knowledge of Microsoft Entra integrations and identity governance concepts or familiarity with related domain areas • Understanding of IT service management (ITSM) principles and best practices • Experience with infrastructure monitoring, log aggregation, and observability tools or familiarity with such systems • Familiarity with configuration management concepts and practices • Knowledge of secrets management practices and tools (HashiCorp Vault, AWS Secrets Manager, Azure Key Vault) • Understanding of version control systems and configuration management concepts • Proven ability to work independently on technical problems with moderate to wide latitude for judgment • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities • Strong communication skills with ability to document technical solutions and explain concepts clearly • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field • Industry certifications such as ITIL Foundation, Microsoft Entra Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, or similar • Experience with multiple monitoring and observability platforms (Prometheus, ELK Stack, Datadog, New Relic, Splunk) • Experience implementing and managing CMDB solutions • Knowledge of manufacturing or multi-location enterprise environments • Experience with Microsoft enterprise technologies, AWS, or other major cloud platforms • Exposure to agile and operational methodologies and practices • Knowledge of security best practices and compliance requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001) • Experience with directory services, LDAP, and identity federation protocols • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management tools • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline concepts • Experience with automation orchestration platforms and tools • CompTIA Server+ or CompTIA Security+ certification • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) • Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure • Travel Requirements: Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time • Location: Tallassee, AL, Mississauga, Ont.
