The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is seeing an interested and qualified individual to fill a Plat and Survey Coordinator (Surveyor Senior or Advanced) vacancy in the Northeast Region!

This full-time position will be headquartered in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

This position offers a hybridwork schedule. The position will be headquartered at and required to work from the Green Bay State Office Building in Green Bay, WI at least 2 days per week. All employees working a hybrid work schedule are generally expected to telework from within the State of Wisconsin. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary

This position serves as a Survey and Plats Coordinator for the Northeast Region (NER). This position leads or assists with leading other employees and consultants in performing field survey and right of way plat review/coordination activities in support of the regions six-year program; researches, assembles, interprets legal descriptions, and computes project survey coordinates. This position also acts as liaison and coordinates right of way and survey activities between programmatic sections; performs as the region contact person for the general public, local officials, private land surveyors, and consultant engineers; and directs surveys of plats and surplus parcels.

This position requires expertise in surveying, land sub-dividing, and using computers in highway plat and survey development. This position also requires is fundamental knowledge of highway engineering and property acquisition procedures, and the ability to effectively cross communicate between these professions .

The objective level for this position is the advanced level.

Salary Information

The senior level position is in schedule-range 14-14 with an annual salary of $65,770- $76,378, with excellent benefits.

The advanced level position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $84,864 - $97,594, with excellent benefits. Plus $2,080 additional for holding a WI Professional Land Surveyor license.

A $3,000 sign-on bonus applies to those who do not have any prior permanent full-time state service in the last five years and agree to remain in the position for one year. The $3,000 will be paid on the first paycheck.

A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Job Details

This position requires the ability to travel away from the office for meetings, with occasional overnight trips.

This position requires fieldwork. This fieldwork can include working in all seasons, including adverse weather conditions and working in high volume traffic conditions, bending on a limited basis, and lifting approximately 70 lbs. and carrying this load approximately 50 feet over varying terrain.

This state agency does not sponsor work visas. This state agency is not enrolled in USCIS E-Verify and is not eligible to employ international F-1 students seeking STEM-OPT extension. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Qualifications

To be eligible at the senior level, applicants must have education, training, and/or experience with all the following:
  • Mathematics, including geometry and trigonometry
  • Principles and/or practices of land surveying
  • Computer programs used to process survey data and/or Computer Aided Design and Drafting System (CADDS) applications (i.e. Civil 3D, AutoCAD, MicroStation)

In addition to above, to be eligible at the advanced level, applicants must:
  • Hold a current Wisconsin Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) License.
