About the Role

Picture your day: you start with a floor walk, noticing line clearances, listening for unusual sounds, and greeting operators by name. You pause at a machine to verify guards, note a small tripping hazard, and log it into a Preventive Action Report. Before lunch, you brief the Plant Safety Committee, then step into an incident review, pulling surveillance footage to clarify root causes. In the afternoon, you coach a lead on GMPs and close the loop on a training document update. Throughout, you’re the on-site face of the safety department—supporting the Divisional Safety Manager while championing a culture where everyone owns safety.

Role Summary

As the Plant Safety Programs Coordinator, you partner closely with the Divisional Safety Manager and act as the local representative for safety at the plant. You lead daily practices that keep people safe, processes compliant, and documentation current.

What You’ll Tackle

  • Model safe work at all times; reinforce Pratt Industries safety rules and operating procedures, and actively participate in the Plant Safety Committee.
  • Champion GMPs (Good Manufacturing Processes) throughout production areas.
  • Conduct safety and accident investigations, using root-cause methods to drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Foster a strong “Culture of Safety” across shifts and departments.
  • Manage site safety/surveillance video footage for investigations and compliance reviews.
  • Plan and perform safety audits; follow through on action items to closure.
  • Own document control for safety and training materials.
  • Prepare and manage Preventive Action Reports (PAR) and related documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, managers, and customers; deliver clear coaching, both positive and corrective.
  • Interpret verbal and written instructions; read and apply operating instructions, training guides, and procedure manuals.
  • Balance multiple priorities, solve practical problems, and adapt to a variety of situations with minimal standardization.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.

How You Work

  • Self-driven with excellent time management and outstanding organization; meticulous attention to detail.
  • Leadership mindset: coach, motivate, and mentor to inspire team spirit and loyalty.
  • Systemic problem solver who implements lasting solutions to root causes.
  • Creative, change-oriented, and grounded in continuous improvement.
  • Strong learner with high energy; assertive and proactive self-starter.
  • Comfortable juggling complex priorities based on business impact.
  • Business and technical understanding across processing, packaging, and logistics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, logistics, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience across manufacturing functions (e.g., production, logistics).
  • 3–5 years in safety management or leadership within manufacturing/corrugated preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.

Math & Reasoning

  • Read a tape measure quickly and accurately.
  • Calculate percentages, measurements, volumes, and rates; apply high-school level math.
  • Interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions; handle concrete variables where limited standardization exists.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly walk, talk, and hear; frequently stand, use hands to finger/handle/feel, and reach with hands/arms; occasionally sit.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles.
  • Typically loud noise levels.
