Lead the heartbeat of our healthcare plant

Location: Richmond, VA | Schedule: Days, On-Call | Compensation: Salary range $100,000–$120,000 DOE, plus bonus and excellent benefits

It’s 6:30 a.m. in Richmond and you’re walking the floor of our healthcare textile plant at HandCraft Linen and Uniform Services. The line is warming up, boilers are stable, conveyors are moving, and your team huddle is underway. You prioritize preventive work orders in the CMMS, coordinate with Production on overall equipment effectiveness, and check in with a vendor arriving to service a VFD. Before lunch, you’re mentoring a technician through an electrical troubleshooting exercise; by mid-afternoon, you’re collaborating with the Corporate Engineering Department on an improvement to reduce unplanned downtime. You finish the day reviewing inventory levels and planning weekend on-call coverage.

What you’ll lead

  • Safety first: Enforce safety protocols, identify hazards, and drive corrective actions to ensure a safe workplace.
  • Preventive maintenance: Direct and audit routine PMs and inspections; verify quality of work on equipment and facilities.
  • Troubleshooting and repairs: Coach technicians on diagnostics and sound repair practices across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Operational partnership: Align with other departments to sustain overall equipment effectiveness and throughput.
  • Team leadership: Lead and develop maintenance technicians; share know‑how and provide technical backup.
  • CMMS discipline: Manage work orders and ensure accurate documentation of inspections, repairs, and PMs.
  • Parts stewardship: Oversee spares, restocking, and purchasing to keep critical inventory ready.
  • Vendor management: Coordinate contractors, vendors, and service providers for quality and timely work.
  • Continuous improvement: Partner with the Corporate Engineering Department to implement operational enhancements.
  • Training and mentoring: Build capabilities across the team with hands‑on guidance and structured training.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the plant’s mission.

What you bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications a plus.
  • 3+ years managing maintenance in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
  • Strong computer aptitude and CMMS familiarity.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and ability to work with diverse personalities.
  • Robust knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles.
  • Team‑oriented leadership with a positive, proactive approach.
  • Comfort thriving in a fast‑paced, high‑challenge setting.
