Plant Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) Program Lead

Why this role matters

Our customers expect safe, consistent, high-quality products. You make that happen by uniting production, quality, safety, and environmental stewardship—every shift, every run.

Your impact

  • Uphold production, quality, and food safety while working safely and collaboratively across manufacturing operations.
  • Model GMP behavior, complete GMP and food safety training, and escalate food safety concerns immediately.
  • Build and administer plant-wide quality policies and procedures; deliver effective quality training for all employees.
  • Run sanitation and quality audits; brief Plant, HR, Shipping, and Production Managers; ensure corrective actions are implemented and verified.
  • Keep inspection reports, files, quality programs, and samples current and audit-ready.
  • Convene quality committees and drive engagement across departments.
  • Own pest control and GFSI/SQF program implementation to meet customer and certification requirements.
  • Oversee the SQF System per SQF Code 7.2—develop, implement, review, maintain, communicate, and protect its integrity.
  • Serve customers by fielding questions, nurturing relationships, and coordinating responses with corporate customer service.
  • Turn process data into action—collect, organize, analyze, and report insights to internal teams and external customers.
  • Advise support departments with technical expertise for process improvements and environmental compliance (ink making, paste making, and graphics).
  • Lead Continuous Improvement reporting, training, and initiatives to eliminate waste and elevate product quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

What success looks like

  1. All Company rules and guidelines are followed, and safety rules—general and machine/department-specific—are second nature.
  2. You maintain frequent contact with plant employees, corporate support managers, and key customers; you capably host auditors, regulators, and vendors when needed.
  3. Your teams cooperate seamlessly, waste is minimized, and product quality is consistently high.

Qualifications you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least five years in quality control management within manufacturing, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Capability to transition into other plant roles as qualifications align.
  • Confidence making decisions on quality issues, including discipline and training with managers/supervisors per union contract; rigor in tracking quality complaints and preventing recurrence.
  • Appreciation of risk: errors can cause poor, untimely, or unsafe product, trigger customer complaints, and jeopardize business.

How you’ll operate

  • Safety-first mindset; consumer safety and food safety guide your decisions.
  • Data-driven and audit-ready at all times.
  • Collaborative, with clear communication to the right personnel for swift SQF System execution and maintenance.
