At Bericap, we make billions of plastic closures every year for the world’s leading food, beverage, and industrial brands. Our family-owned company—founded in 1926—thrives because people like you ensure our equipment performs flawlessly. As a full-time, hourly Plant Maintenance Technologist reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll protect uptime, elevate reliability, and support production every shift.

Your impact

Picture this: a production line signals a fault. You triage the alert, prioritize safety, and restore operation swiftly. Between urgent work, you complete PMs, log precise notes in MVP and OPS Tracker, and partner with tooling and operations to drive continuous improvements.

Core responsibilities

  • Open each day with a pass-down discussion and review the Maintenance Communication Board for open actions.
  • Respond promptly to safety-related machine issues and any emergency or potential emergency.
  • Execute PMs and corrective maintenance; complete work orders through MVP when not handling urgent repairs.
  • Document status and results in OPS Tracker and MVP daily; contribute to CI projects assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide support to the tooling department as required.

How you work

  • Champion safety and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Uphold GMPs on the floor—no jewelry, cell phone, or nicotine in any form.
  • Immediately report any food safety concern to the appropriate manager or supervisor.
  • Keep areas orderly with ongoing housekeeping during the shift.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds unassisted; stand and walk throughout the shift.
  • Advance Continuous Improvement Programs; initiate corrective actions; log improvements in the See It, Sort It, Report It system.
  • Adapt to unscheduled overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed; perform duties assigned by the Operations Manager.

Technical strengths

  • Developing proficiency across Windows-based programs, blueprint reading, pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical code/controls, PLCs, machine shop tools, metal fabrication, mechanical principles, and basic welding.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and perform basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Experience changing heater bands and heat relays and diagnosing heat zones.
  • Hydraulics servicing, including replacing hydraulic pumps.
  • Troubleshooting pneumatic systems.

Experience & education

  • 1–2 years in PLC/PC-controlled machinery; electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting; and maintenance/repair of plant utilities.
  • Preferred: troubleshooting injection machines; repairing high-speed packaging equipment; familiarity with injection processing.
  • Preferred: experience with ISO or similar quality systems and SQF or similar food safety systems.
  • High school diploma or technical college diploma in a related field preferred.
