Plant Equipment Reliability Technician

Shift: 2nd (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM)

Mission: Safeguard asset reliability and maximize uptime across production equipment, facilities, and site utilities. Be the primary troubleshooter for complex, multicraft issues and a champion for continuous improvement.

Impact you’ll make

• Keep production on schedule by restoring equipment quickly and elevating overall performance.
• Reduce repeat failures through disciplined root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Advance safety, 5S, GMP, and quality with every task completed.

Core responsibilities

• Plan and perform preventive maintenance; troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and building systems.
• Adjust, calibrate, and optimize machines for capability, quality, and throughput.
• Establish/modify work procedures to meet production schedules without compromising safety.
• Support capital projects and continuous improvement to cut cost and boost reliability.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace aligned to 5S and GMP requirements.
• Adhere to company safety rules and procedures at all times.
• Continuously develop multicraft skills and stay current on maintenance technologies.
• Assist with other tasks as needed to support the operation.

Skills and credentials

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in industrial maintenance.
• Training or hands-on background in relevant trades: mechanical, electrical, fluid power, machining, welding, etc.
• Safe operation of hand/power tools and electrical test instruments (e.g., voltmeter, ammeter).
• Fluent in reading schematics, blueprints, diagrams, and technical sketches.
• Effective multitasking and team communication.
• Working knowledge of OSHA requirements.
• Proven capability with mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics systems.
• Customer-focused approach when supporting internal partners.

Physical and environmental demands

• Lift up to 50 lbs.
• Regular standing, sitting, kneeling, squatting, and ladder climbing (about 40% standing, 20% sitting, 20% climbing, 20% kneeling/squatting/working in non-routine positions each shift).
• Work up to 12-hour shifts within a 24-hour period as required.
• Operate in varying temperatures and dusty environments; use PPE as needed.
• Prolonged hand-tool use requiring manual dexterity.
• Overtime availability as needed.

Problem solving, communication, and math

Language: Read/interpret safety rules, O&M instructions, and procedures; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively to groups of employees or customers.

Mathematics: Read a tape measure accurately; compute percentages, measurements, volume, and rates; apply high school math concepts.

Reasoning: Apply common-sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or graphic instructions; solve problems involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.

Technical foundation

• Grasp equipment design/capabilities to drive efficient operation and to train others.
• Make cost-aware decisions that lower total cost and highlight improvement areas.
• Adhere to quality standards.
• Operate within regulatory requirements: wage and hour, environmental and waste minimization, company policies, and personnel requirements, including OSHA and EEO.

Licensing

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other certifications specific to areas or equipment.

Work environment

Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts; frequent wet/humid conditions; occasional exposure to heights, fumes/airborne particles, and vibration. The typical noise level is loud.
