Join Us as a Plant Electrical Technician

You keep production moving. If complex power systems, tight timelines, and precision troubleshooting energize you, this role is for you.

Your Impact

  • Execute electrical installations and maintain equipment across Shady Grove facilities — plus other locations as directed by the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Supervisors, the Electrical Engineer, or their designees.
  • Champion continuous improvement by supporting Lean, 5S, and TPR initiatives.

Core Responsibilities

  • Handle a wide array of systems: three-phase 480/12500V distribution, single-phase feeder/branch circuits, and low-voltage DC controls.
  • Work hands-on with motors, generators, transfer switches, transformers, switchgear, bus ducts, and disconnects.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues rapidly using systematic troubleshooting.
  • Apply NEC, IEEE, and NEMA codes and standards on every task.
  • Complete load calculations to size conductors, conduit, fuses, and breakers per the National Electrical Code.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Solid knowledge of OSHA and NFPA70E as they relate to energized work in heavy manufacturing.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED (preferred).
  • Technical trade school training and/or equivalent field experience (preferred).
  • 2+ years in heavy manufacturing, a commercial/industrial apprenticeship, or relevant military experience (preferred).

Health & Safety Expectations

  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S.
  • Work safely, wear required PPE, and follow facility and job-specific procedures.
  • Participate in safety training and demonstrate competency.
  • Report hazards, unsafe acts, and suggestions — or correct them when possible.

Preferred Skills

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring and ladder diagrams, and single-line high-voltage diagrams for Arc Flash NFPA70E compliance.
  • Comfort with technical manuals and operating procedures; capable of writing routine reports and correspondence.
