Controller Position in Chicago

Job Responsibilities for the Controller in Chicago:

  • Key point of contact for other departments on financial and accounting matters
  • Prepare & analyze monthly, quarterly and annual statements (balance sheets and income statements)
  • Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
  • Analyze and communicate key drivers of company financial results to leadership
  • Partner across the organization to identify opportunities for efficiency within both financial and operational processes
  • Manage and improve month-end and year-end close processes
  • Maintain GL and prepare monthly reconciliations
  • Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and activity-based costing
  • Actively manage cash conversion cycle
  • Manage ongoing banking activity
  • Coordinate accounts payable, payments and accounts receivable within the organization
  • Assist customers, vendors, and employees with finance and accounting processes
  • Coordinate activities with external auditors
  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax planning and DFARS compliance
  • Assist in budget preparation
  • Support the Finance Director and executives with projects as required

Job Requirements for the Controller in Chicago:

  • 5-10 years finance & accounting experience, manufacturing background strongly preferred
  • CPA accreditation and previous experience in public accounting is strongly preferred
  • BS degree in Accounting/Finance or relevant field preferred
  • Knowledge of SAP highly preferred
  • Strong, clear, and effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills for interaction with both employees, vendor, and customers
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Excel and accounting software, Visual
  • ERP experience
  • Excellent knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required
