Greenville County Land Development Division is currently searching for motivated candidates who have a passion for protecting the environment through county regulations. Our Plans Examiner/Staff Engineer is an integral role to addressing water quality and quantity within the county. This position will be responsible for routine plan review for storm water infrastructure and water quality of new developments. This position will review plats, construction plans and computer model outputs for compliance with regulations, standard, adequacy for application of permits, and compliance with approved plans. Plan Examiner will review permit applications to identify water quality requirements, coordinate plan reviews with inspectors, team members and other divisions. A successful candidate should have knowledge of or interest in storm water drainage systems, water quality, engineering principles, best management practices, and technical software programs. Candidate must be able to manage multiple projects on individual timelines, communicate effectively with engineers, developers, citizens and peers, and make prompt and informed decisions. Bachelor"s degree in civil engineering or related environmental science field from an accredited college is desired. Experience with storm water management; including storm water plan review for final plats, and sediment & erosion control in regard to commercial, industrial and residential construction sites is a plus. Applicants must be able to obtain Certified Plan Reviewer Certification (CSPR) within 6 months of employment. Certified Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector (CEPSCI) certification recommended but not required. Must possess a valid driver"s license.
