Part Time Planning and Zoning Administrator- Chikaming, MI area
SAFEbuilt is currently seeking an experienced Planning and Zoning Administrator to provide support to operations in the Chikaming, Michigan area. This position offers great opportunity for dynamic, motivated self-starters to work on a variety of assignments. You'll be a member of our highly respected zoning regulation team with a full complement of resources to support you and exciting projects to keep you challenged.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide reviews pertaining to zoning and zoning conditions, overlay, open space, building form, sited design and landscape compliance for the following building and site plans.
- Research zoning requirements (conditions, overlays, design guidelines, zoning code (Ch 27), and land development codes (Ch 14)) as applicable where infrastructure requirements conflict or interface
- Determine type of use, and occupancy classification and determine plans comply with applicable codes and ordinances
- Coordinate plan review tracking, reporting, and interaction with applicable departments
- Review plans for compliance including verification of dimensional requirements
- Identify deficiencies by code section
- Prepare comments and enter results and comments in permitting software
- Identify missing information to request from applicant if necessary
- Review conclusions
- Contact applicant if necessary
- Coordinate with plan reviewers of building and land development codes as necessary
- Run reports from permitting software documenting reviews completed and duration time
- Be a resource for team members and provide support for roundtable as needed
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Must possess the ability to positively interact with other staff members, the general public, contractors, governmental agencies, and other clientele.
- Basic knowledge of the principles and practices of urban planning, specifically the regulation of land uses.
- Basic knowledge of land development processes including, zoning regulations, land entitlements, and public infrastructure construction.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and a considerable amount of independent judgment.
- Good time management, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prepare written plan review correspondence and update information into company software programs.
- Strong computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with online permitting applications preferred.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- 2 years of development review or plan review experience.
- Valid driver''s license and a good driving record required,
