Our client, is a Oilfield Services company, is looking for a Piping & Structural Designer / Drafter for their Houston, TX location.
 
Responsibilities:
  • The role of Mechanical / Structural Designer is to support the Engineers and Engineering
  • Manager in providing drawings and equipment BOM as per customer requirements independently.
  • The Mechanical / Structural Designer will support the service personnel in solving problems by simulating the problems in drawings.
  • The Mechanical / Structural Designer will be able to work on simple Engineering Work Request and comply with all departmental Work Instructions and Engineering Standards.
  • The Mechanical / Structural Designer will be responsible for checking and approving drawings / designs; interface communication, and ensuring the accuracy, reliability, efficiency, and safety of the mechanical, piping, and structuralscopes of work for Hyperscale Data Center Modules meets customer’s requirements and Industrial Standards they produce.
  • The Mechanical / Structural Designer is expected to resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of acquired technical experience and analysis of factual information
  • The Designer will support the goals and programs established by the management team.
  • These roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Provide and check drawings / BOM as per customer requirements.
  • Prepare bulk MTOs (Material Take Offs) and detailed BOMs (Bill of Materials) with no supervision from Engineer.
  • Ensure drawings follow the Engineering and QA/QC standards.
  • Prepare layout drawings to customer to present the proposed equipment and the function of the equipment.
  • Prepare and complete various Mechanical, Piping, Structural deliverable drawings and documents such as piping layout/general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping schedule, piping tie-point/ interface drawings, piping insulation details, structural general
  • arrangement drawings, structural weld details /notes, structural connection detail drawings, foundation support details, equipment mounting / support details, pipe support details, weight / COG reports, manual valve list, HVAC ducting, instrumentation, flow diagrams, Process and Instrument Diagrams, pump alignment drawings, handrails / ladders, walkways, and stairs as per OSHA, platform and grating detailed drawings, etc.
  • Help in solving problems by simulating the problems in drawings.
  • Prepare sequence drawing and procedure for Factory Acceptance Test.
  • Prepare and compile installation procedure for submission to customer.
  • Supervise the outsourcing of engineering design work to 3rd party engineering / design firms.
  • Review, as required, vendor data and drawings to ensure compliance with client specifications or applicable standards.
  • Produce report data from models and assist in providing necessary design information to Project/Client/Third Party, as required.
  • Provide “Lessons learned” feedback and utilize findings from the process to update tools and procedures.
 
Requirements:
  • Designer should be in possession of a Technical Certification in the design discipline.
  • 5 to 15 Years experience
  • Required : EPC Modular drafting & design, Solid Works ( required) , Navis works, PDF editor, Autodesk Autocad
  • Mastery knowledge and proficiency in:
  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint)
  • PDF Editor (Adobe, Foxit, or other equivalent)
  • Solid Works (required)
  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Navisworks Manager / Freedom
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience mechanical, piping, and structural scopes of work for Hyperscale Data Center Modules or related environment in similar industry.
  • Ability to produce drawings / sketches to illustrate design / ideas.
  • Experience with high-density data centers and hyperscale environments (strongly preferred)
  • High level understanding of the purpose of electrical system for facilities.
