Negotiates critical and controversial issues with top‑level engineers and designers of the organization. Performs advisory and consulting work for the organization as a recognized authority for piping stress analysis and pipe engineering. Job roles contribute directly to value creation.Work is performed in an office environment at minimum 2 days a week in office.Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:Pipe Stress AnalysisIdentification of pipes requiring review and/or analysisFormal stress analysis in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 which may include analysis for pressure, thermal and vibration related issuesInformal review in accordance with ASME B31.1 and B31.3 pressure, weight and thermal analysis of piping systems, vibration analysis and piping support systems.Specialty piping items such as spring cans, hoses, expansion jointsDevelopment of specifications in cooperation with piping designers and process engineersDevelopment of requests for quotes in cooperation with procurement specialistsEvaluation of vendor quotes in cooperating with procurement specialistsPipe supportsSelection of standard pipe supports for a project according to corporate and client requirementsSelection of specific pipe supports and communication of support to pipe designers for incorporation on piping designDevelopment of engineered pipe supports such as spring cans and snubbersAssist in conducting piping reviews of all project isometrics, supports, and specialty items prior to issuing for construction to ensure that quality procedures were followedWork hour estimates for pipe flexibility, support, and specialty piping items for proposals and all stages of projectsWill be responsible for the budget, schedule, and quality of the piping engineering work on assigned projects in cooperation with piping design leadsMay lead a team of engineers on multiple independent projects.Responsible for collaboration in a multi office environmentRequired Education, Experience, & Skills:Minimum 10 years of applicable piping engineering experience within the chemical and industrial industriesProficiency with pipe stress analysis and finite elements software (Caesar II and NozzlePro preferred) requiredFamiliarity with ASME B31.3 and B31.1Experience in navigating 3D models with NavisworksExperience in Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc...) is requiredAbility to travel and work at client sites is requiredAutoCAD experience is a plusProfessional Engineer license is preferred but not mandatoryPhysical QualificationsWork may be required to be performed at client sites and may require exposure to ambient temperature extremesWork may require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire‑retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat and steel‑toed bootsDay‑to‑day physical requirements involve standard office activities including sitting/standing for extended periods of time, attending meetings, use of keyboard and mouse repetitively, lifting and carrying less than 20 lbs. frequently, etc.Work may require moderate physical exertion including walking to operating areas and walking up stairsMay require walking the plant propertyDecarbonization – Energy Transition – SustainabilityKBR offers a selection of competitive lifestyle benefits which could include 401K plan with company match, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, flexible spending account, disability, paid time off, or flexible work schedule.
