Job Summary
Patriot Pipeline Services LLC is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pipeline Locator to join our team. The Pipeline Locator will be responsible for performing 811 monitoring, conducting field locates, and overseeing excavations to prevent damage to underground pipelines and utilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of 811 rules and regulations, particularly in the state of Texas, and a commitment to safety and precision.
Key Responsibilities
- 811 Monitoring: Respond to and manage 811 locate requests in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Field Locating: Utilize pipeline locating equipment to accurately identify and mark the location of underground pipelines and utilities in the field.
- Excavation Oversight: Oversee excavation activities to ensure safe digging practices and prevent damage to pipelines and utilities.
- Damage Prevention: Implement and enforce damage prevention protocols to minimize risks to underground infrastructure.
- Regulatory Compliance: Maintain thorough knowledge of and adherence to 811 rules and regulations, including those specific to Texas, as well as other relevant state and federal guidelines.
- Documentation: Complete detailed reports and documentation of locate activities, including maps, sketches, and electronic records.
- Communication: Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and utility owners to coordinate locate and excavation activities effectively.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure locating equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and in good working condition.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to company safety policies and OSHA regulations, promoting a culture of safety on all job sites.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in pipeline locating, utility locating, or a related field.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of 811 rules and regulations, with specific familiarity with Texas state requirements.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using pipeline locating equipment (e.g., electromagnetic locators, ground-penetrating radar) and related software for mapping and documentation.
- Certifications: Valid drivers license required; certifications such as OSHA 10/30, Utility Locator Training, or similar are preferred.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, perform physical tasks such as walking long distances, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, clients, and contractors.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail to ensure precise locates and prevent damage.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in the field efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience overseeing excavations or working with excavation contractors.
- Familiarity with additional state regulations beyond Texas.
- Knowledge of GIS systems or other mapping technologies.
