Knowledge of yard layout, products, and forklift operation is essential. Development of skills for assessing load parameters allowing the safe, accurate, and efficient placement of finished product on flatbed trailers to ensure maximum loading, while maintaining stable transport properties is also required. Knows their responsibility in a contingency plan or crisis situation. Must be able to work the shift pattern as outlined by distribution needs.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMay include, but are not limited to, the following:Inbound Freight:Count all products, compare to manifest and check all shipments for damage, infestation and production code dates and sign for inbound shipment when necessaryReport shortages, damages and mis-shipments on appropriate formsUnload inbound shipments safely and move product to storage locationsStorage:Maximize space usage and safely put away items into yard and onto racksKeep yard clean and clear of debrisOrder Picking: Ensure correct number and type of product is pickedTransport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipmentStencil, tag, label, or mark orders as requiredOutbound Freight:Compare quantity, labeling and address with order to ensure shipments are complete and correctEfficiently move product into or onto outbound delivery vehicles and accept signatures for outbound as necessaryEnsure that shipments contain no damaged or sub-standard product and no improperly assembled units, including identification of sun faded productsFacility/Equipment:Maintain equipment and assigned areas in a neat, clean and orderly fashionOperate equipment, handheld computers, and power tools safely and efficientlyAccountable for performing daily inspections and maintenance checks on equipmentComply with all local, OSHA or Expeditors' standardsInventory:Maintain inventory organization and storage integrity in preparation for shipmentKeep accurate records and reports. Assist in physical inventories and cycle countsEnsure proper stock rotation and repair broken or incomplete unitsOther Duties: Manually wrap products to prevent damage. Maintain constant contact with management regarding shipping priorities and progress. Provide training and assistance to other shippers/receivers. Provide input at shift meetings concerning goals, problems, accomplishments, etc. Repack or re-box cases per instructions. Repair and re-box damaged goods as required. Operate shrink-wrap machine if assigned.EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSPreferred high school degree6 months of distribution and warehousing experience or comparable experience - RF technologies a plusMust be able to operate a forklift safely and effectivelyMust be able to read, count accurately, do simple math (add, subtract, divide, multiply) and write legibly. Must be able to pass basic math pre-employment testMust be capable of standing and walking for extended periods. Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periodsExerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objectsStrong work ethic, attention to detail and positive attitude. Ability to work independently with minimal supervisionPHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to all weather conditions as the work is a combination of indoors and outdoors but is primarily outdoors. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, safety shoes, high-visibility vest, etc. Some work may require usage of stairs and/or elevators. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US markets. The pay range is based on relevant market data in our lowest and highest geographic markets. Pay is based on several factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, experience, and skillset. Westlake is a total compensation company.
