Pilot Plant Research Technician

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Pay: $25/hour
Location: Savannah, GA

Position Summary:

The Pilot Plant Research Technician supports pilot-scale operations by executing experimental programs, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with Engineering, Operations, and R&D teams. This role plays a key part in ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant pilot plant activities while contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions:
Operate and maintain pilot plant and scientific equipment to support routine and non-routine experiments
Execute R&D experimental programs in accordance with SOPs and strict EHS compliance
Troubleshoot and repair pilot plant equipment within scope of responsibility
Accurately document experiments using approved methods and systems
Collaborate with project leaders to translate lab objectives into pilot-scale processes
Support development and updates of SOPs, equipment specifications, and calibration records
Drive continuous improvement initiatives including EHS, housekeeping, and operational efficiency
Participate in technical reviews, safety meetings, and EHS programs
Assist with material handling, waste management, procurement, and shipments
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment
Perform additional duties to support pilot plant operations as needed



Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required (Associate's or Technical degree preferred)
2+ years of experience in a pilot plant, laboratory, or chemical manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience operating and maintaining mechanical or process equipment
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and resolve day-to-day technical issues independently
Strong understanding of safety practices and EHS compliance in an industrial or lab setting
Experience following and working within Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Basic computer skills for documentation and data tracking
Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and R&D teams
Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy

Preferences:
Experience in chemical processing, pilot plant operations, or R&D environments
Familiarity with instrumentation, calibration, and process equipment
Exposure to Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives
Experience supporting scale-up or experimental processes
Strong communication and organizational skills
