Duties

Provides direct care to patients in the Primary Care department. Provides clinical guidance to PAs and others as requested. Participates in interdisciplinary team activities to achieve optimum quality of patient care. Participates in the progressive improvement of the service delivery. Evaluates the patient to assess changes in the physical and mental status. A progress note is written in the patients chart. Responsible for coordinating with providers within their own and outside of their own Service Line. Open clear and collaborative engagements are a key duty. Incumbent is ultimately responsible to ensure barriers for Veterans and staff are minimized to promote a positive work environment. Fosters positive working relationships with staff peers and Veterans. Performs patient evaluations, orders, and interprets diagnostic blood and fluid tests and imaging studies as indicated. Responsible for medical care as appropriate. Staff within Primary Care are appropriately credentialed and privileged. They participate in various hospital committees, departmental, and hospital in-service programs and education programs of the department and the hospital. They are also involved in continuous quality improvement through the peer review and FPPEOPPE process. Actively participates in compliance readiness activities as requested by Chief of Primary Care Quality Management and the Chief of Staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

Participation in quality assurance programs and chart reviews and completing medical records in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations, and any other duties as assigned.

Employee Exercise of Corporate Citizenship

Serves as a leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested and attends Medical Service Staff meetings and meetings of the Medical-Dental staff. Teaches effectively and creatively and provides guidance to others involved in the delivery of Primary Care-related educational programs. Maintains Basic Life Support and completes all mandatory training by due date.

Work Schedule

The tours of duty are Monday through Friday with variable hours, which will be discussed during the interview process, especially in relation to any executive orders or short-term assignments.

Pay

Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases, Paid Time Off, 50-55 days of paid time off per year, 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year, and possible 5-day paid absence for CMERetirement, Traditional federal pension, 5 years vesting, and federal 401K with up to 5 in contributions by VAInsurance, Federal health, vision, dental, term lifelong-term care, many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement.

Licensure

1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory.

CME

Possible 1000 per year reimbursement must be full-time with board certification.

No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.

Physical Requirements

Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required.

Education

Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements if applicable listed in the job announcement.

Veterans Preference: Preference eligible candidates and other Veterans will be given preference when qualification of candidates are approximately equal for Title 38 positions in VHA.
