The Physician - Pediatrics is responsible for comprehensive care to patients. They are responsible for providing complete clinical care for all patients under the direction of the Pediatric Director and per medical protocols. This position will collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Teaching Attending (TA).

Reports to: Pediatric Director

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain a program of comprehensive health for patients, including preventative medicine and acute chronic conditions.
  • Prepare and review medical histories and obtain data through interviews.
  • Examine patients, formulate diagnostic plans, and order required dialogistic testing.
  • Interpret examination findings and test results and implement treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and address the effectiveness of pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate for patient medical conditions.
  • Determine need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists.
  • Participate in other care procedures according to training and demonstrated ability.
  • Provide supportive and definitive care to patients.
  • Manage primary care services.
  • Actively participate in patient care by supervising assigned medical staff, nurses, and other medical technicians as needed.
  • Attend and actively participate in departmental meetings.
  • Determine need for and advise on the type and quality of necessary medical supplies and equipment if applicable.
  • Care management of high-risk patients to reduce risk, decrease hospital and ER utilization, and improve outcomes.
  • Maintenance of a care management registry for documentation of high-risk patients, care management interventions, and care plan.
  • Timely and ongoing communication with the healthcare team to identify high risk patients and to maximize the management of patient needs and related risk reduction.
  • Demonstrate effective use of verbal, non-verbal, and written skills to ensure communication with patients is culturally and linguistically appropriate.
  • Interviews patients, obtain medical history, update all information in EHR according to standards.
  • Provide patient medication information for all new prescriptions according to standards.
  • Ability to supervise, advise and train clinical professionals and/or students in areas of expertise as well as a variety of health-related topics including first-aid measures, basic and advanced healthcare maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare colleagues.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of practicing medicine in a clinic, hospital or private practice preferred.
  • Adept at diagnosing problems and creating treatment plans for patients.
  • Excel in communicating sensitive and adverse information.
  • Sound judgment and expert decision-making abilities.
  • Analytical thinker and complex problem solver.
  • Working knowledge of FFHC clinical-specific EMR - Centricity.
  • Technological competency skills are mandatory (Word, Windows 365, Excel, Centricity, VisDental, Amion, etc.)
  • Flexibility with managing multiple projects.
  • Outstanding organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and dedication to accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a professional and discrete manner.
  • Ability to communicate with patients, family, and physicians in a professional and courteous manner.

Education:

·M.D. or D.O. from an accredited Medical School, Board Certified

·Completion of a Residency Program in specialty

·Current and valid Illinois license as a physician and surgeon

·Current and valid DEA (Federal)

·Controlled Substance Registration Certificate (State of Illinois)
