Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital is seeking a dedicated Urgent Care Medical Director to lead its MedStat practice in Warsaw, Indiana. This leadership role offers the opportunity to combine clinical excellence with strategic oversight, guiding a well-established urgent care and occupational health program that serves both the community and local employers through a comprehensive service line.

The right candidate brings strong operational awareness, with the ability to develop and implement clinical protocols, drive quality improvement initiatives, and ensure regulatory compliance. Experience with occupational health services—such as workers’ compensation care and employer-based programs—is highly valuable. In addition, the ideal leader is approachable, communicative, and invested in both patient satisfaction and team development. They are adaptable in a fast-paced environment and committed to improving workflows, outcomes, and the overall patient experience.

Role Overview and Responsibilities

The position combines a strong clinical component with dedicated leadership responsibilities. While primarily clinical in nature, the Medical Director will receive 12 administrative hours per month to support Medical Director duties, making the role approximately 90% clinical and 10% administrative.

  • Clinical Duties: In this role, you will care for patients with non-emergent illnesses and injuries, performing procedures such as laceration repair, wart removal, and incision and drainage and joint injections. The facility is equipped with an on-site laboratory and digital X-ray, allowing for prompt, on-site interpretation.
  • Leadership & Oversight: Key responsibilities include overseeing and working closely with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs), driving quality improvement initiatives, and conducting chart reviews.
  • Occupational Medicine: You will lead employer health services, including the management of workers’ compensation injury care, DOT physicals, and employer partnerships.
  • Operations: You will oversee the development of clinical protocols and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

An ideal candidate is a clinically strong, team oriented physician who combines hands-on patient care with effective leadership.

  • Education: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine, or Occupational Health.
  • Certifications: NRCME and MRO certification are required. While these certifications are required, the hospital will assist the right candidate in obtaining them within the first 90 days.
  • Experience: Prior leadership experience and a background in urgent care and occupational medicine are strongly preferred but not strictly required.

Compensation

The position offers a comprehensive package. This position provides an ideal balance of professional growth and quality of life.

  • Financials: Guaranteed base salary plus commencement bonus, relocation assistance, and potential loan repayment or residency stipends.
  • Benefits: Full malpractice coverage, 401(k), CME allowance, and PTO.
