Here's what you'll be doing:
  • Delivers quality patient care in a respectful culturally sensitive manner that includes acute and chronic care, preventative care, and consultations with patients, family and specialists.
  • Diagnoses, treats and provides high quality patient centered care for medical conditions in children and adults following accepted medical standards of practice.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditions.
  • Refers patients to specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriate.
  • Evaluates and revises patient care/treatment plan with patient and family as necessary to achieve improved health.
  • Provides education for patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of prescribed medical treatment.
  • Provides collaborative oversight of mid-level providers, serving as a mentor and consultant.
  • Provides accurate documentation of patient care, document orders, directives, procedures and patient responses in the medical record and communicates information to other members of the health care team; maintains timely, accurate, legible and confidential records.
  • Participates actively in the advancement of FCP’s Medical Home model, advancing innovative ideas, leading a Care Team, participating in care team clinical benchmarking and quality projects, and meaningful use of the electronic health record.
  • Collaborates with the Medical Director, Provider Team and Nursing Director to identify areas for system improvement, increased efficiency, communication and quality improvement activities.
  • Develops relationships to provide for a broad spectrum of care with the various ancillary specialties available.  (I.e. Rehab, Dental, Optical, Community Health, Behavioral Health, etc.).
  • Communicates within the department as well as across departments to ensure that information is shared for effective operations and maintains strict confidentiality and adherence to HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Practices within the policies and procedures that direct the Clinic
What you'll need to be successful:
  • Doctorate of Medicine of Osteopathy, with valid Wisconsin licensure.
  • Current Board Certification in a primary care specialty such as family practice, internal medicine, or emergency medicine. 
  • Three to five (3-5) years’ practice experience in a primary care setting.
  • State of Wisconsin and Federal DEA Certification.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
  • Knowledge of community medical diagnostic and patient care services in area of medical expertise.
  • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
  • Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals in area of expertise; work independently and in a team environment.
  • FCP complies with all CDC vaccine and testing recommendations for healthcare professionals. Proof of immunizations is required and immunizations/testing provided upon hire. 
  • Excellent Patient Relations and communication skills.
  • Ability to participate in clinic committees and quality projects as requested.
  • Must possess interest and be willing to enhance skill set in provision of Culturally Safe care to a Native population.
