Job Details:

• ABEM board certification required
• 
  
• Minimum 2 years of emergency department experience required to work in freestanding emergency departments, or family medicine with emergency medicine fellowship
• 
  
• All shifts are 12-hour shifts running 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM or 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM with single physician coverage
• 
  
• On-site coverage includes weekends and nights with no call requirements
• 
  
• Onboarding consists of 2 hours of orientation for EMR training and local quality measures, plus 2-3 required shadow shifts
• 
  
• Case logs will need to be provided
• 
  
• Required procedures include intubations, central line placement, ultrasound utilization, OB delivery, dislocation reductions, chest tube placement, trauma management, and laceration repair
• 
  
• Physicians must be efficient and comfortable managing high acuity cases including trauma, STEMI, and strokes
• 
  
• Sites operate as Level IV trauma centers and freestanding emergency departments serving diverse patient populations including elderly, rural, and mixed demographics
• 
  
• Average daily patient census ranges from 45 to 80 patients per day depending on site
• 
  
• APP support is available at all sites with varying hours of coverage per day
• 
  
• 1 emergency medicine physician per shift at all sites
• 
  
• 1-year duration of need with ASAP start

This healthcare system operates multiple freestanding and full-service emergency departments serving a broad regional community across South Texas. The facilities include Level IV trauma centers and freestanding emergency departments equipped to handle a wide variety of high-acuity cases. Each site is supported by APP coverage and utilizes Meditech as its electronic medical records platform, providing physicians with the tools and team support needed to deliver quality emergency care.
